Look to Jesus!

The Letter to the Hebrews was written for Christians who were severely suffering to the point that they were contemplating of turning away from Jesus. The writer of Hebrews encouraged them in one of the most comforting truths we will find in Scripture.

Hebrews 7:25 “Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”

The ministry of Jesus didn’t end at the resurrection. Jesus is making intercession for His own now and forever. He is interceding for us when our faith is at it’s weakest. He is interceding that our faith may not fail and that we will be kept from the evil one.

Jesus Christ is not interceding on the cross, nor in the tomb but He is making intercession at the right hand of His Father. The Son of Man who is interceding for us is able to sympathize with our weakness because He was tempted just as we are. Since He is also the Son of God we are assured that His prayers have the authority and heart of His Father.

It is a blessed assurance that the intercession of Jesus is not only when He thinks we need it but He intercedes for us unceasingly – 24/7. We can say with confidence that Jesus has never and will never leave us nor forsake us. He is our faithful High Priest!

The admonition for the suffering and for those who are not is the same.

Look to Jesus. Look to Him who is our only Hope. Look to Him who never fails even if our faith fail. Look to Jesus who is beautiful. Look to Jesus who is our guarantee of better things. In Christ we have a better covenant, a better country, and a better inheritance. There is no better solution for any situation but to look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. As one preacher said, “that’s why for every one look at yourself, you should take ten looks to Jesus Christ, because all our hope lies outside of ourselves.” Look to our beautiful Savior, Jesus Christ!

1Peter 1:3 — 1Peter 1:7  “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, so that the  proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;”
